My Journey
Iโm Joel Nathan, a physiotherapist with a passion for helping people move better, recover from pain, and get back to the things they love. I studied at the University of Birmingham, where I completed my BSc in Physiotherapy, and since then Iโve dedicated my career to supporting patients across a wide range of conditions.
For the past 3 years, Iโve worked in the NHS as a Senior Specialist Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist, treating everything from everyday back and neck pain to complex injuries. Over time, I realised many patients wanted more personalised care and access to treatments like acupuncture, sports massage, and cupping, services Iโm passionate about but canโt always offer fully within the NHS. Thatโs why I started JN Physiotherapy, to provide a space where recovery is tailored, flexible, and patient-centred.
Qualifications & Experience
BSc Physiotherapy โ University of Birmingham
Senior Specialist MSK Physiotherapist โ 3 years NHS experience
AACP-accredited acupuncture practitioner
OMT certified in cupping and sports massage
Registered with HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council)
Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP)
Alongside my NHS role, Iโve worked with athletes at the Northern Knights Aussie Rules Football Club in Melbourne, and earlier in my career, I served as a Sergeant in the Singapore Army, experiences that shaped my discipline, resilience, and ability to support people in demanding environments.
My Approach
I take a patient-centred, evidence-based approach to treatment, which combines evidence-based physiotherapy with complementary treatments such as acupuncture, cupping, and sports massage. This allows me to treat pain from multiple angles, not just reducing symptoms, but also addressing the underlying causes. Every session is tailored to you, with the aim of helping you move with confidence, stay active and prevent problems from coming back.
Outside the Clinic
When Iโm not treating patients, youโll usually find me staying active by playing tennis, football, and training at the gym, or exploring new food spots around Birmingham. I believe movement is medicine, but balance and enjoyment are just as important.
