Neck pain physiotherapy in Birmingham City Centre

Tight neck, stiff shoulders, headaches creeping up from the base of your skull? Desk and phone hours are a common trigger, but the cause is often in the upper back and shoulder blades too, not just the neck itself.

What's usually behind neck pain

  • Stiff upper back and limited shoulder blade control from long desk hours
  • Prolonged head-forward postures on phones and laptops
  • Muscle guarding after stress, poor sleep or an awkward night
  • Neck strain from training, driving or a minor knock

How physiotherapy helps

Your first appointment is a 60-minute one-to-one assessment for £70. It covers:

  • Assessment of neck, upper back and shoulder blade movement, plus how your workspace and habits load them
  • Manual therapy and soft-tissue work to ease tension and restore movement
  • Acupuncture or cupping where they are appropriate for you
  • Simple, realistic exercises and workspace changes so relief lasts beyond the session

You'll leave knowing what's going on, what you can do about it and what happens next. Evening and weekend appointments are available at Apo at the Holloway, Birmingham City Centre. Receipts are provided for claiming back through work where your employer allows.

When to get help urgently

Seek urgent medical help (A&E or 999) if you notice a sudden, severe headache unlike any you've had, dizziness with slurred speech or changes in vision, arm weakness or numbness that is getting worse, or neck pain after a significant accident.

Common questions

Can neck pain cause headaches?

Yes. Tension and stiffness in the upper neck can refer pain into the head. Assessment helps show whether your headaches have a neck component that treatment can help.

Is neck manipulation involved?

Treatment is tailored to you and discussed first. Many people improve with mobilisation, soft-tissue work and exercise, without any high-velocity techniques.

Will a new chair or standing desk fix it?

Workspace changes can help, but they rarely fix it alone. The plan combines treatment, movement and practical setup advice.
