Acupuncture in Birmingham City Centre

Joel is AACP-accredited, which means acupuncture is used in a Western medical, evidence-informed way within a physiotherapy assessment, not as a stand-alone treatment for everything.

How it is used

Fine needles are placed in tight or painful areas to help settle muscle spasm and pain, usually alongside hands-on treatment and exercise. It is used where it suits your presentation, not by default.

What to expect

A short discussion first, a check for any reasons to avoid it, then a few needles for around 10 to 20 minutes. Most people feel little more than a dull ache or heaviness at the needle sites.

Good to know

Mild bruising or soreness afterwards can happen. Tell Joel beforehand if you're pregnant, on blood thinners, have a pacemaker or a bleeding disorder, or have a fear of needles.
