Tennis elbow physiotherapy in Birmingham City Centre

Pain on the outside of the elbow when gripping, lifting a kettle, typing or racket sport? Tennis elbow is a tendon overload problem and it needs the right loading, not just rest.

What's usually behind tennis elbow

  • Repeated gripping, typing, carrying or racket use beyond what the tendon tolerates
  • A sudden increase in training or work demands
  • Weak forearm and shoulder muscles that push more load into the elbow
  • Slow-healing tendon irritation that has lingered for weeks or months

How physiotherapy helps

Your first appointment is a 60-minute one-to-one assessment for £70. It covers:

  • Assessment of the elbow, neck, shoulder and grip strength
  • Load management advice so you can keep doing what you need to
  • A progressive tendon loading plan, which is the backbone of recovery
  • Hands-on treatment and, where suitable, acupuncture to help manage pain

You'll leave knowing what's going on, what you can do about it and what happens next. Evening and weekend appointments are available at Apo at the Holloway, Birmingham City Centre. Receipts are provided for claiming back through work where your employer allows.

When to get help urgently

Seek urgent medical help (A&E or 999) if you notice sudden swelling and deformity after a fall, a hot, red joint with fever, or numbness spreading into the fingers.

Common questions

Do I need to stop gripping altogether?

Usually not. The aim is to find a load your tendon tolerates and build from there.

How long does it take to recover?

Tendons are slow to adapt, so recovery is often measured in weeks to months. Steady progress matters more than quick fixes.

Do braces help?

Some people find a strap gives short-term relief. It works best alongside a proper loading plan.
