Plantar fasciitis and foot pain physiotherapy in Birmingham City Centre

Is your first step out of bed agonising? Or does your heel ache after a run or a long shift on your feet? Plantar heel pain is an overload problem, and it responds best to the right loading and the right changes to your routine.

What's usually behind it

  • A recent rise in running, walking or time on your feet
  • Tight or weak calf muscles and foot muscles
  • Hard surfaces, unsupportive footwear or long standing at work
  • A sensitive tissue that has been rested, then loaded too fast again

How Joel diagnoses it and treats it

Your first appointment is a 60-minute one-to-one initial assessment for £70. It covers:

  • Diagnosis through your history and an assessment of the foot, ankle, calf and how you move, including walking or running where relevant
  • Hands-on treatment and soft-tissue work to the calf and foot
  • Acupuncture where it suits you, to help manage pain
  • Gym-based loading, such as slow, heavy calf raises and foot strengthening, alongside simple changes to how much you run or stand

You'll leave knowing what's going on, what you can do about it and what happens next. Evening and weekend appointments are available at 3 Blucher Street, Birmingham City Centre. Receipts are provided for claiming back through work where your employer allows.

When to get help urgently

Seek urgent medical help (A&E or 999) if your foot is hot, red and swollen with a fever, or you cannot put weight on it after an injury. If you have diabetes, see your GP promptly for any new foot pain, numbness or wounds.

Common questions

How long does plantar fasciitis last?

It often takes months rather than weeks, but most people improve with consistent loading and sensible changes. Your assessment will give you a realistic timeline.

Do I need insoles?

Not always. They can help some people in the short term, but strength and load management are usually the foundation. Joel will tell you if they are worth trying.

Can I keep running?

Often yes, with adjusted distance or pace. The plan is built around what you want to keep doing.
